Hexagon's manufacturing intelligence division will move into Brainport Industries Campus (BIC) in early 2022. With this, BIC has attracted yet another world player. For Hexagon Netherlands' director Jan Klingen it is a logical step: "This is the hangout of our target group. Here we can show what we are capable of, here we can cooperate and his is the place to share knowledge. I expect a lot from it."
Manufacturing Intelligence is a subsidiary of Hexagon, which delivers industrial metrology solutions around the world with over 21,000 employees and its headquarters in Sweden. Hexagon’s technology enables the manufacturing industry to control quality at all stages of the process. In doing so, Hexagon uses a wide variety of digital production technologies, such as CAE solutions for design and engineering, CAD/CAM, and complementary software for production applications. Hexagon also offers hardware and software solutions for metrology and data management. Jan Klingen, Managing Director Hexagon Netherlands: “We enable technology users throughout the process to gain deep and manageable insight into product quality, ensuring that quality drives production.”
As a participant in AMcubator, a ‘one-stop-shop’ for industries that want to use 3D printing as production technology, Hexagon is already actively involved in the BIC community. After the official launch at BIC, sometime in the first half of 2022, Hexagon will further build upon the network around BIC’s Pilot Manufacturing Center. Klingen expects to gain many new contacts from there: “It’s all about the campus idea: you never know what new connections will come out of it, but you can be sure that they will. That also applies to the study programs here. We expect to be able to offer the students a lot of what they need.”
Hexagon will have office space, a validation facility, and demonstration facilities at BIC. Among other things, there is a 25-meter long room where (sensor) products can be validated.
Ferdinand Gremmen, director SDK Vastgoed (VolkerWessels), is looking forward to Hexagon’s arrival. “We have been in talks with them for some time and from the first day on, we were both convinced of the need for this step. Because of Corona, the execution has taken a little longer, but that also offered us the opportunity to start the cooperation already. This will only make Hexagon’s start at BIC easier. By referring to us as the ‘hangout of the manufacturing industry’ they are already showing that they know exactly what BIC is all about: this is where the entire industry comes together to collaborate, share knowledge and strengthen each other’s networks. Hexagon will also play an important role in this for our other tenants.”
