On Monday evening 19 December, the agreement for the financing of the Atrium on Brainport Industries Campus was ratified.
The Atrium is both the main entrance and the heart of Brainport Industries Campus. It connects the various building clusters and has an important social function for the public, education and high-tech innovation. Companies, research institutes and educational institutions make joint use of this innovative space and the facilities located there. Due to the transparent architecture of the Atrium, large parts of the production process are visible to the public. Partly because of this, the campus will have a display-window function for the high-tech manufacturing industry.
With the financing of the Atrium, another important step has been taken in the realisation of Brainport Industries Campus. The campus will open its doors at the end of 2017 and is vital for the economic development of the Brainport region and increasing employment.
The total investment for the construction of the first cluster amounts to approximately 100 million euros. In addition to private R&D investments, the government is also contributing. The Province of Noord-Brabant and the Municipality of Eindhoven are jointly providing a loan totalling € 11.2 million. In addition, the province is providing a subsidy of €1.5 million for the basic furnishing and operation of the Atrium to future tenants.
