His Majesty King Willem-Alexander officially opened Brainport Industries Campus (BIC) in Eindhoven on Thursday morning 3 October 2019.
With the arrival of around 1,500 BIC members of staff, BIC students and many guests from home and abroad, the room created in one of the large halls was a unique setting. The programme started under the direction of presenter Merijn Doggen. Ferdinand Gremmen, Petra van Lange (Executive Board Summa), Erik van Merrienboer (Deputy at the Province Noord-Brabant), Stijn Steenbakkers (Alderman Economic Affairs Eindhoven) and Mayor Jorritsma of Eindhoven spoke enthusiastically about their contribution to and vision for the future of BIC. The King activated a high-tech robot, which then put the finishing touches to a Coin. At the end of the morning, the King placed this Coin in the artwork, making the opening official. A special day and a significant milestone for the high-tech manufacturing industry.
The first Factory of the Future at Brainport Industries Campus is 100,000 m2 in size. Here, the next generation of the high-tech manufacturing industry will be trained in a state-of-the-art working and learning environment. Brainport Industries Campus is home to far-reaching partnerships between suppliers, specialist companies and innovative educational and knowledge institutions in the Brainport region. The campus will comprise a total of five factories.
